Opening Ceremony of MyMEDEX 2018 and 23rd AHWP Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR,Tuesday, 23 October 2018 - The Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad has officially opened the Malaysian Medical Device Expo (MyMEDEX 2018) which is held back to back with the 23rd Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) Meeting at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Center (MITEC) today. Both events will run concurrently from 23 to 25 October 2018.

MyMEDEX 2018 is an initiative by Medical Device Authority (MDA) to showcase some of the innovations and advances in medical technologies. More than 70 exhibitors take part in the expo that has provided an insightful one-stop centre for medical technologies that are currently available in the market.

The 23rd AHWP Meeting is an annual event that provides a platform for the medical device regulators and industry to discuss ways to harmonise medical device regulation across Asia. amongst others the meeting discusses the updates and new initiatives undertaken by AHWP in the effort towards harmonisation of medical device regulations among member economies. More than 300 participants from 37 countries participate in the meeting.

The Opening Ceremony early today also saw the attendance of Dato' Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Dato' Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, Deputy Secretary General (Finance) Ministry of Health who is a board member of Medical Device Authority (MDA), Mr Ahmad Shariff Hambali, Chief Executive of MDA, Datuk Zamane Abdul Rahman, Chair of AHWP, Mr Ali M Al Dalaan Chair of AHWP Technical Committee from Saudi FDA, Mr Abu Bakar Yusof, Director Lifestyle & Life Sciences Section, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Mr Ahmad Khairuddin Abdul Rahim Manufacturing Development (Resource) Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
